President's Colour awarded to Indian Naval Aviation in Goa
President Ram Nath Kovind awarded the President's Colour to the Indian Naval Aviation at a ceremonial parade held at INS Hansa base near Goa on September 6, 2021. The President's Colour is the highest honor bestowed on a military unit in recognition of its exceptional service to the nation, both in peace and during the war.
It consists of a 36* 48 inch white ensign with the national flag in the canton, and the state emblem embroidered in gold at the centre. The elephant, signifying strength, is placed diagonally opposite the national flag in the canton.

IAF inducts Barak 8 air defence system that can hit multiple targets 70km away
The Indian Air Force, on Thursday, inducted a Medium-Range Surface-to-Air-Missile (MRSAM) system; capable of knocking out aerial threats such as enemy fighter jets, missiles, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles at a range of 70 km.
The system has been developed jointly by the Israel Aerospace Industries and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

India to procure 56 C-295MW transport aircraft from Airbus
After a long wait, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is acquiring 56 C-295MW transport aircrafts from Airbus Defence. These aircrafts will replace the ageing Avro Transport Aircraft of IAF.
The approval to procure these aircrafts was given by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on September 8, 2021. 40 out of these 56 aircrafts will be manufactured by TATA Consortium, it is the first time that a military aircraft will be manufactured in India by a private sector company.

India issues RFI for the procurement of four LPD amphibious vessels
The Indian Ministry of Defence has issued a Request For Information to procure 4 Landing Platform Docks (LPDs) for the Indian navy. The tender is limited to Indian shipyards, but only those with a foreign partner and design may answer the RFI.
An LPD is an amphibious warfare ship that embarks, transports and lands elements of a landing force for expeditionary warfare missions.

In a 1st, Sukhoi Su-30 MKI lands at an NH in Rajasthan
In a first, the Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) landed on an Emergency Landing Field (ELF) on a National Highway in Rajasthan's Barmer.
The 3-km long landing strip on the NH-925A was inaugurated by the Union Defence Minister - Rajnath Singh and Road Transport and Highways Minister - Nitin Gadkari on September 9, 2021.

Army orders 100+ Indo-Israeli drones amid active LAC and dicey LoC
In a first, the army has ordered over 100 tactical kamikaze Israeli drones to beef up its operational capability along the borders with Pakistan and China.
The loitering munition ‘SkyStriker’ will be manufactured in Bengaluru by a joint venture between Israel’s Elbit System and India’s Alpha Design (part of the Adani Group). Kamikaze drones are those which fall onto a target and explode. They are formally known as loitering munitions - meaning that they can loiter in the air and then drop down on their target when ordered to.

India gets its first nuclear missile tracking ship INS Dhruva
India is all ready to launch its first nuclear-missile tracking ship - IND Dhruv, on September 10, 2021. This will be the first Indian naval vessel capable of tracking nuclear missiles at a long-range.
With the induction of INS Dhruv, India would join a select group of countries like the US, the UK, Russia, China and France possessing such specialized vessels.
It is built by the Hindustan Shipyard in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO),

Indian soldiers get ‘Made in India’ light-weight bullet proof helmets
Now the Indian army’s soldiers are protected from AK-47 bullet strikes with the new Bullet Proof Helmets ade in India’. The new helmets were the first major contract for modern composite helmets placed under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, and the contract between Kanpur-based MKU Ltd and the Ministry of Defence was signed in 2016 under the then defence minister Late Manohar Parrikkar. The contract involved 1,58,279 Bullet Proof Helmets (BPH).

Indian private sector hands over ‘Made in India’ grenades to Indian army
Economic Explosives Ltd (EEL), a Nagpur-based private company, on August 24, 2021, handed over the first batch of 1 lakh indigenously-manufactured modern-hand grenades to the Indian army in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
“The consignment of Multi-Mode Hand Grenades (MMHG) was handed over to the Army”, a Defence release said. This is the first instance of ammunition being manufactured by the private industry in India.
