Women can appear for the National Defence Academy exams
The Court was hearing a plea that stated that the eligible and willing female candidates are being denied the opportunity of entry to the National Defence Academy on the basis of their gender. The Supreme Court has allowed women to take the National Defence Academy (NDA) exam scheduled for September 5th. This is a policy decision based on gender discrimination.

Amazon enters Indian wealth management with bet on Smallcase
Fintech startup smallcase Technologies has raised $40 million in series C round led by Faering Capital with participation from Amazon and billionaire Azim Premjiās Premji Invest at an undisclosed valuation. The total capital raised by smallcase has crossed $60 million. The newly infused capital will be used to launch a wider suite of investment products for retail investors as well as enhancing the platform and its capabilities.

Domestic LPG prices hiked by INR 25
The domestic cooking gas LPG price was increased by INR 25 per cylinder. Subsidised LPG now costs INR 859 per 14.2-kg cylinder in Delhi. This is the second straight month of increase in rates. Rates were hiked by INR 25.50 per cylinder on July 1. This is the highest price at which a āsubsidisedā domestic cylinder is being sold in the city since the elimination of the LPG subsidy in May 2020.

The āNational Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Palmā scheme will have a financial outlay of ā¹ 11,040 crore and will boost domestic cultivation of palm oil in the next five years. The aim of the scheme is to raise the area of cultivation and productivity of palm oil. Justice BV Nagarathna in line to become first woman Chief Justice of India
The Supreme Court collegium has recommended nine names to the Centre for appointment as judges in the court. Ā Justice BV Nagarathna, currently a judge in the Karnataka High Court, is in line to become the first woman Chief Justice of India (CJI) in 2027 if the government clears her name for appointment.

Taliban announces "amnesty", urges women to join government
Talibanās spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid announced an āamnestyā across Afghanistan and urged women to join its government, trying to calm nerves across a nervous capital city that saw chaos at its airport as people tried to flee their rule. The Taliban has promised womenās rights and media freedom in the groupās first news conference after taking charge of the Afghan capital, Kabul. He said that the rights of women will be protected within the framework of Islam.

US blocks Taliban access to $9.5 billion Afghan monetary reserves
The Biden Administration in the United States froze assets worth nearly $9.5 billion belonging to Da Afghanistan Bank and blocked cash from being shipped to the war-torn nation, in a bid to prevent the Taliban from accessing the money. The Taliban, which remains on the list of āSpecially Designated Nationalsā, will not be able to access any Afghan central bank assets kept in the United States.
