Third wave of Covid-19 could peak in October
In the recent report to the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Institute of Disaster Management, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, concluded that the third wave of Covid-19 could peak around October. The report also noted that pediatric facilities and equipment are nowhere close to what may be needed if many children contract the deadly virus.

Active Covid-19 cases drop to lowest in over 150 days

UAE accepts India’s UPI payment service
NPCI International Payments Ltd, the international arm of the National Payment Corporation of India has partnered with Mashreq, one of the leading financial institutions in the UAE, to offer acceptance of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in the UAE. It said, in a statement that this partnership will enable over 2 million Indians who travel to UAE for business or leisure purposes every year to pay for their purchases using UPI-based mobile applications across shops and merchant stores in the UAE.

Hardeep Singh Puri says why CAA was necessary
After a special Indian Air Force repatriation flight ferrying 168 people from Kabul landed at Ghaziabad Hindon airbase on Sunday, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that developments in the volatile neighbourhood are the reason why enactment of the Citizenship Amendment Act is necessary. India allowed to operate 2 flights daily for evacuation from Kabul
India has got permission to run two flights everyday to bring back its citizens stranded in Afghanistan. The permission has been granted by the American and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces, which are in control of the operations at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul after the city fell to Taliban forces.

US approves record number of Indian student visas in 2021 amid Covid
The United States mission in India has approved more student visas in 2021 so far than ever before. This comes despite the many challenges that people are facing in travelling abroad.
As per the US embassy, more than 55,000 students and exchange visitors have or will board planes to study in the United States this year. “More students are being approved every day," it said.

Nirmala Sitharaman launches National Monetisation Pipeline
NMP estimates an aggregate monetization potential of INR 6 lakh crores through core assets of the Central government over the four-year period from FY 2022 to FY 2025. ‘Scam 1992’: HC stays probe in FIR by bank against Sony Pictures
A criminal defamation case was registered by Karad Urban Co-operative Bank. The bank, in its FIR against Sony Pictures Network India Pvt Ltd, the owner of the SonyLIV application, has alleged that in the third episode of the web series, a logo was displayed in the background which “resembles” its trademark, thereby causing serious damage to its “financial, commercial and social reputation”.
