Nirvana sued by the baby from its Nevermind album cover
Spencer Elden, the man who was photographed as a baby for the cover of Nirvana's album Nevermind, is suing the band alleging sexual exploitation. Elden says his parents never signed a release authorising the use of his image on the album. He also alleges that the nude image constitutes child pornography as the inclusion of the dollar bill makes the minor seem "like a sex worker". Non-sexualised photos of infants are generally not considered child pornography under US law.

Serena Williams withdraws from U.S. Open due to injury
Williams, a six-times winner at Flushing Meadows, has had an injury-marred season and limped out of her Round 1 match at Wimbledon in tears due to the leg injury. The 39-year-old, who has been on the hunt for an elusive 24th major, skipped the Olympics in Tokyo and also opted out of the Cincinnati Masters. She has decided to withdraw from the U.S. Open to allow her body to heal completely from a torn hamstring.

Jeh Wadia quits 2 Wadia firms
Jehangir Wadia has quit the boards of Britannia Industries and Bombay Burmah Trading Corp., withdrawing from all listed businesses of the USD 15 billion Wadia Group. Jehangir, 48, resigned as managing director of his family-controlled airline Go Airlines (rebranded as Go First) in March. A month later, he stepped down from Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company as its managing director.

UAE announces the world's tallest observation wheel
Joining the list of record-breaking structures, Dubai is set to unveil the world's largest and tallest observation wheel called the Ain Dubai on October 21. Centre hikes sugarcane FRP, rules out raising sugar selling price
The Centre hiked the minimum price that mills have to pay to sugarcane growers, also known as the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP), by INR 5 per quintal to INR 290 a quintal for the 2021-22 sugar season (October-September) while ruling out any immediate commensurate increase in the sale price of sugar.

Subscription-based creator platform OnlyFans has reversed its decision to ban sexually explicit conduct after widespread backlash from its users. They mentioned that they have secured assurances necessary to support their diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change. OnlyFans said in a statement that it stands for inclusion and will continue to provide a home for all creators.

IAF’s fighter aircraft crashes in Rajasthan’s Barmer
A MiG-21 Bison fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed today at 5:30pm in Rajasthan's Barmer when the vehicle was on a training sortie in the western sector and it experienced a technical malfunction after take-off. However, the pilot ejected safely. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause.

Wildlife board nods to border roads in Ladakh
The National Board of Wildlife has cleared construction of almost a dozen roads near the Line of Actual Control. Ten proposed roads are in Ladakh’s Changthang Wildlife Sanctuary adjoining the border. This clearance will expedite border infrastructure at Demchok and Dungti, which have seen clashes between troops of the Indian Army and China’s People’s Liberation Army in recent years.
