Yahoo shuts down its news site in India
Yahoo has shut down its news websites in India due to the new foreign direct investment (FDI) rules that restrict foreign ownership of media companies from operating and publishing digital content in India.
"As of August 26, 2021, Yahoo India will no longer be publishing content. Your Yahoo Account, Mail and Search experiences will not be affected in any way and will operate as usual. We thank you for your support and readership," a notice on the Yahoo website said.

License regulations ease in India's Drone rules 2021
The government on Thursday introduced a new set of liberalised rules to regulate the country’s nascent drone industry, which it said was designed to “usher in an era of supernormal growth” in the sector. Under the new national drone policy, no security clearance is required before any registration or license issuance for drones. The requisite fees for permissions have also been reduced to nominal levels.

Pakistan's Fatah-1 rocket system successful in test flight
Pakistan conducted a successful test flight of the indigenously developed Fatah-1, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). According to the ISPR, the missile, which has a range of 900 kilometres, was tested to revalidate various design and technical parameters of the weapon system, including an advanced navigation system, as informed by the military.

The Centre has approved all 9 names recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium for appointment to the top court, along with the list of names including three women judges. Of those 3, Justice BV Nagarathna could possibly become the first woman Chief Justice of India in 2027.

India evacuates 77 stranded persons from Afghanistan
India evacuated 24 national citizens, along with 11 Nepalese nationals in a military aircraft from Kabul in the backdrop of further deterioration in the security situation in the Afghan capital.
"Op Devi Shakti in action! @IAF_MC flight with 24 Indian and 11 Nepalese evacuees from Kabul is on its way to Delhi. #DeviShakti," tweeted the External Affairs Ministry.

Delhi topped the Forbes list of cities with most CCTV cameras per square mile, beating 'Shanghai, New York and London'. Sexual intercourse between married couple not marital rape 'even if by force' - Chhattisgarh HC
Chhattisgarh High Court discharged a 37-year-old man in a rape case filed against him by his wife, observing that sexual intercourse or any sexual act with a legally wedded wife is not rape even if done by force or against her wish.
"Therefore, the charge under Section 376 of the IPC framed against the husband is erroneous and illegal. Hence, he is entitled to be discharged from the charge under Section 376 of the IPC,” said the HC.

Covishield 84-day gap under reconsideration
The central government is reconsidering the 84-day gap span of Covishield doses amongst vaccination. The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation in India (NTAGI) will decide on the dosage gap, where previously the gap for Covidhield doses was 3-4 weeks as of March 2021, which was later extended to 12-16 weeks.
