President Kovind sanctions the bill repealing 3 farm laws
The Farm Laws Repeal Act 2021 was approved by President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday. The bill was passed by both houses by voice vote on Monday in the middle of intense discussion by the opposition. Prime minister Narendra Modi first announced the three farm laws on June 5, 2020. The laws stayed in effect for only 221 days.

Gross GST revenue in November surpasses INR 1.3 lakh crore - 2nd highest ever
The Goods and Service Tax (GST) collected in November 2021 amounted to INR 1,31,526 crore - the second-highest since the implementation of GST in 2017. The recorded collection is 24% higher than the numbers recorded in the same month last year. The highest ever revenue was collected in April 2021 as per the Press Information Bureau.Â

Maharashtra government wants to ban flights from 12 countries amid the Omicron threat
The centre has received multiple requests from the Maharashtra government to immediately suspend incoming flight services from 'at-risk' 12 countries, including South Africa, where the new variant Omicron has been detected. Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray is reportedly going to sit with prime minister Narendra Modi to discuss the issue.Â

Price hike of INR 100 in LPG gas cylinder
The increase in the price of a 19kg commercial liquified petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder by INR 100 came like a bolt from the blue. The cylinders previously priced at INR 2000.50 each will now cost INR 2101 in Delhi. The price of one cylinder in Mumbai will be INR 2051 and INR 2174.50 in Kolkata. Outside food and beverages will get costlier. The new prices will be effective from today. The cost of a 19kg domestic cylinder remains unchanged.

Sharing of personal content without consent is prohibited: Twitter
Twitter Inc. announced on Tuesday that sharing personal media such as photos and videos without the creator's consent will not be allowed. The current privacy policy prohibits sharing of private information such as phone numbers, IDs and addresses. This development comes right after Parag Agrawal took reins of the company, replacing Jack Dorsey.

Delhi govt cuts down VAT on petrol; prices lowered by INR 8 per litreÂ
On Wednesday, the government of Delhi reduced the value-added tax(VAT) on petrol from 30% to 19.4%, henceforth slashing the petrol prices by INR 8 per litre. The new petrol prices will be applicable post-midnight today.Â

Uttarakhand government withdraws Char Dham act ahead of polls
On Tuesday, the Uttarakhand government announced that they'd be withdrawing the contentious Char Dham Devasthanam Management Act just ahead of assembly elections next year. The act brought hindu shrines of gangotri, yamunotri, kedarnath, badrinath and 49 other temples under the control of a board set up by the government against which numerous priests have been protesting since last year.Â

15 companies to receive incentives under the PLI scheme for solar manufacturing
Adani Infrastructure, Larsen and Toubro, Tata Power Solar, public sector Coal India and 11 other companies are all set to receive incentives offered under the production linked incentive scheme for solar manufacturing. The department for promotion of industry and industrial trade is set to allocate INR 19,500 crore to the plan.

Changes in automatic payments in India: Google
Tech giant Google has announced that from January 1, 2022, it will not be able to save customer card details such as card number and expiry date. It comes right after the RBI announced guidelines that no payment aggregators or payment gateways would be allowed to store any card details other than the card issuers and networks.
