PV Sindhu beat Yamaguchi, enters final
Two-time Olympics champion P V Sindhu beat Japan's Akane Yamaguchi in the semi-final game of the Badminton World Federation(BWF) World Tour Finals in Bali on Saturday. World number seven Sindhu will play against South Korea's An Seyoung in the summit clash on Sunday. It will be her third-final appearance in the season-ending tournament. In 2018, Sindhu became the only Indian to win the title.

Internetshutdowns.in has recorded 550 internet shutdowns in India since 2012. Over 50% of these have been imposed since 2019. It has earned India the title of being the world's internet shutdown capital. The longest shutdown was 552 days long in Jammu and Kashmir, which was imposed on August 4, 2019, and lifted entirely on February 6, 2020.

Health and fitness start-up Curefit has secured USD 145 million in a Series F round led by food tech unicorn Zomato, South Park Commons, Accel, Temasek, co-founder Mukesh Bansal, and senior partners Apurva Doshi and Paras Sanghvi of IIFL Wealth. Zomato stated last month that it is in the process of selling its Fitso fitness service to Curefit for USD 50 million.

Volcano Semeru flares up in East JavaÂ
Mount Semeru in the Lumajang City of Indonesia erupted around 3 pm sending smoke and ash hovering 40,000 ft in the air. Thunderstorms and rain accompanied the sudden eruption. Videos on social media show thick layers of falling ash that turned several villages dark. It triggered panic among people who lived nearby, but no casualties were reported. Semaru had last erupted in January.Â

India to manufacture AK-203 riflesÂ
India will start manufacturing AK-203 rifles in a joint venture with Russia. An Indo-Russian unit will come up at Korwa, Uttar Pradesh, to manufacture over five lakh AK-203 assault rifles. The 7.62 X 39mm calibre lightweight AK-203 rifles with an effective range of 300 metres will replace the INSAS rifle that was inducted over 30 years back.Â
