Former India cricketer Yashpal Sharma passes away
Former Indian cricketer and 1983 World Cup winner Yashpal Sharma has died of a heart attack. Yashpal was one of the heroes in India s World Cup triumph in 1983. He played a pivotal role in the cup by scoring 240 runs at an average of 34.28 including a match-winning 60 against England in the semi-finals.

Record flooding in 2030s, warns NASA study
The 'wobble' in the Moon's orbit lasts 18.6 years, during which there is a tide-amplifying phase, which increases the devastating effect of the high tides. This cycle is expected to occur in the mid-2030s and coupled with the rising sea level, could lead to more nuisance floods, said NASA.

Deepak Kabra becomes first Indian gymnastics judge at Olympics
Kabra will be seen officiating the men’s artistic gymnasts at the Tokyo Games, which gets underway on July 23. The 2010 Commonwealth Games in India was his first international assignment and Kabra went on to become the first Indian judge to officiate in the 2014 Asian Games and Youth Olympics.

SII to start production of Sputnik V vaccine from September
A deal was signed between the world's largest vaccine manufacturer Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and the Serum Institute of India (SII) which allows SII to manufacture the Russian vaccine from September onwards, with an annual production capacity of 300 million vaccine doses.

Monsoon session of Parliament to start from 19 July
Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha will meet daily from 11 am to 6 pm with a one hour lunch break. Negative RT-PCR tests will be mandatory for members who aren't vaccinated against COVID-19 yet. The Centre has listed 23 bills to be tabled in the Lok Sabha during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. Of these, six bills have already been introduced while 17 will be new.

NEET to be held on September 12
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test or NEET (UG) 2021 will be held on September 12, 2021, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced. the number of cities where examinations will be conducted has been increased from 155 to 198.
