Adani takes over Mumbai International Airport, becomes India's largest airport operator
Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) has taken over the management control of Mumbai International Airport from GVK group and now own 74% stake in it. This deal makes Adani Group India’s biggest private airport operator It already operates three other airports in Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Mangaluru and will shortly take over those at Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Jaipur. Adani’s airports account for 25% of airport footfalls and 33% of air cargo.

ITC diversifying tobacco business into manufacturing of nicotine and nicotine salts
ITC has set up a wholly-owned subsidiary, ITC IndiVision Limited for undertaking manufacturing of nicotine and nicotine salts primarily for export to the US and European Union markets. It aims to capture the growing demand for nicotine based oral and vaping products in those markets. ITC has invested 50 crores in this subsidiary as of March 2021.

71 dead in lightning strikes, flash floods in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu
Heavy rains triggered flash floods in parts of Himachal Pradesh and the Jammu region disrupting normal life. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has rushed three teams to conduct rescue-and-search operations in the flash flood-affected regions in Kangra. The deaths due to lightning strikes in several states climbed to 71, including 42 in Uttar Pradesh.

Maharashtra EV policy to accelerate electric vehicle adoption
As per the new EV Policy, the state government targets to achieve 10 per cent penetration of EVs as new vehicle registrations by 2025, as well as 25 per cent EV adoption in public transport and last-mile delivery vehicles in six key cities -- Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad and Nashik, by 2025. Additionally, the government will offer incentives to set up 2,500 charging stations in key cities and major highways in the state through subsidy incentives.

India-origin Justin Narayan wins Masterchef Australia season 13
India-origin contestant Justin Narayan beat fellow competitors, Pete Campbell and Kishwar Chowdhury, to bag the winner's trophy along with a reward of $250,000. He is the second contestant of Indian origin, after prison guard Sashi Cheliah, to have bagged the first prize in Masterchef Australia.

Kanwar Yatra approved by UP government
The Uttarakhand government on Tuesday decided to cancel the annual “Kanwar Yatra” in view of the looming threat of the third wave of COVID-19. However, the Uttar Pradesh government has given the nod for the yatra that begins on July 25. The Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage of devotees of Shiva, to Hindu pilgrimage places of Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand and Sultanganj in Bihar to fetch holy waters of Ganges River.
