Remainder of the IPL to be held in UAE: Schedule announced
The BCCI announced the schedule for the remainder of the IPL 2021 which will be held in the UAE. A total of 31 matches will be played in the duration of 27 days. The 14th season, which was postponed in May this year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, will resume on September 19 in Dubai with a clash between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.

New Covid variant found in UK
Public Health England has recently identified a new strain of coronavirus which is now being investigated after 16 confirmed cases have been found in the United Kingdom. The variant is known as B.1.621. Most of the cases have been linked to overseas travel and there is currently no evidence of community transmission in the UK.

Entire fleet of Delhi govt run DTC buses is ‘overage’
The entire fleet of 3,760 buses run by Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has been officially declared “overage” this year, a first in the history of the state transport utility, which was set up in 1971. The data also showed that 99% of the fleet has crossed the technical operational limit for low-floor CNG buses.

Pollution turns Argentina lagoon bright pink
Activists said that pollution in the lagoon in Argentina’s southern Patagonia region is caused by sodium sulfite — an antibacterial product used in fish factories. The chemical is typically used to preserve prawns for export. Residents have long complained of foul smells and other environmental issues around the river and lagoon.
