Kerala imposes complete lockdown for weekend
A complete lockdown in the state of Kerala will be imposed on 31st July and 1st August, after the state continues to trouble the state, accounting for 37.1% of cases across the nation. Union Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya has appointed a 6 member team to help “effective public health interventions" to help with the rising Covid cases.

Goa CM asks why minors out at night
Pramod Sawant Goa CM while speaking on a gang rape incident of two minor girls on a beach, asked parents to be more “responsible” and to not allow their children to remain out late at night.
“When 14-year-olds stay on the beach the whole night, the parents need to introspect. Just because children don’t listen, we cannot put the responsibility on the government and police,” - Sawant.

Government announces reservation in medical seats- 27% for OBCs, 10% for EWS
Centre announced reservation in All-India Quota (AIQ) scheme, declaring 27% reservation for OBCs and 10% for the economically weaker section students in UG & PG medicine. The decision is expected to help 1500 students from the OBC community and close to 2000 students in PG admissions, released via the health ministry.

Australia to return art exhibits worth $3M to India
The National Art Museum of Australia has confirmed that it will return 14 stolen artworks worth over 20 Cr INR, which includes bronze sculptures and painted scrolls, back to the Indian government. The director of NGA, Nick Mitzevich, stated that the artworks were acquired by the National Gallery of Australia between 1989-2009- associated with art dealer Subhash Kapoor, whose practices were established to be illegally exported.

SEBI imposes fine of 3 Lakh INR on Raj Kundra
Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has fined Ripu Sudan Kundra, aka Raj Kundra, his wife Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Viaan Industries Ltd for disclosure lapsed, and hence subsequent violation of insider trading. The couple has faced a fine of 3 Lakh, to be paid jointly, who acts as the promoters of Viaan Industries.

Sri Lanka defeats India in T20 series by 2-1
