Indian origin Sirisha Bandla to fly to space with Richard Branson
Sirisha Bandla, the Vice President of Virgin Galactic will travel to the edge of space on a Virgin Galactic test flight. Sirisha, an aeronautical engineer, was born in Andhra Pradesh and is only the second Indian-origin woman to travel to space. The vessel is set to take off on July 11 from New Mexico.

“Is your friend becoming an extremist?”, asks Facebook
Facebook has started warning certain users that they might have been exposed to certain “extremist content”. Facebook is trying to gauge the content quality and possible hate speech by crowd-sourcing feedback on the content. The social media giant has been under the pump for publishing violent posts and this is another attempt to keep a check on the same. Currently, this is being piloted in the US.

CBSE to launch an “Innovation Ambassador Program”
The aim of the program is to train school teachers as innovative ambassadors. CBSE got the green flag from Education Minister Mr. Pokhriyal today. Each CBSE-affiliated school will be allowed to nominate up to 5 teachers for the program and the classes will begin on July 16.

Uttarakhand has a new Chief Minister!
CM elect Pushkar Singh Dhami is set to take the oath tomorrow. He is succeeding the rather controversial Tirath Singh Rawat. Mr. Rawat resigned the other day. Rawat was nominated for the position by the BJP on March 10. According to the constitution, he had 6 months to win a byelection and continue as the CM. However, owing to the Covid situation, the Election Commission did not find it relevant to conduct a by-election any time soon.

BJP sweeps Zila panchayat elections in UP
The ruling party won 67 out of 75 seats in the Zila Panchayat elections. 21 of these seats were won uncontested after the opposition candidate withdrew a night before the elections and joined the BJP party. Deputy CM Maurya tweeted “Kaho Dil se, 2022 mai Bhajapa phir se”.
