Delhi traffic police revises the maximum speed limit for motor vehicles
Delhi Traffic Police has issued a fresh notification superseding all previous orders regarding declarations of speed limits on the roads of NCT of Delhi. The maximum speed limit set for private cars, taxis and jeep users passing through stretches of national highways, Ring Road, Outer Ring Road and IGI airport road is 70/60 Kmph, according to the Delhi Traffic police's revised maximum speed limit for different categories of motor vehicles plying on city roads.
The maximum speed limits were revised in view of traffic scenario and the safety of road users, officials said. The new speed limits will come into effect on an immediate basis.

Free cash withdrawal limit from own bank's ATM
Free ATM transaction limit from other bank
Hike in charges on ATM cash withdrawal beyond the free limit: Increase the customer charges to ₹21 per transaction. This increase shall be effective from January 1, 2022.
Rise in intercharge fee: Increase from ₹15 to ₹17 for financial transactions and from INR 5 to INR 6 for non-financial transactions in all centres. This shall be effective from 1st August 2021.
New charges on ATM withdrawal beyond free transaction limit: Increase from INR 20 to INR 21. This will become effective from 1st January 2022.

18% more women in higher education in 5 years
Even though the share of female students is lowest in institutes of national importance, there has been an overall increase of over 18% in female enrolment in higher education from 2015-16 to 2019-20. The All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) 2019-20 released on Thursday also revealed that apart from more females being enrolled in MPhil, postgraduate and certificate levels, they continue to dominate in medical sciences, BA and BSc programmes. However, it is in the professional and technical courses where female enrolment is significantly lower.

Sedition case against Lakshadweep filmmaker Aisha Sultana for calling Praful Patel ‘bio-weapon’
Lakshadweep Police Thursday registered a case of sedition and hate speech against director Aisha Sultana for calling the union territory’s administrator, Praful Khoda Patel, a “bio-weapon” being used by the Centre on the island’s people. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by BJP’s Lakshadweep unit head C. Abdul Khader Haji.
Sultana had, during a debate on Malayalam channel MediaOne TV on the controversial reforms introduced by the Lakshadweep administrator, said that the Centre was using Patel as a “bio-weapon” on the islands.

G7 leaders to call for new probe into origins of Coronavirus
G7 leaders will push for an investigation into the origins of Covid-19 at the upcoming summit, according to a leaked draft for the meeting. The call will be part of a document that the leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US are putting together. It outlines a plan to end the pandemic by December 2022. The decision to call for a fresh probe comes amid accusations a Wuhan lab is engaged in a 'cover up' of the situation. The Wall Street Journal reported that three workers at the Wuhan lab were hospitalized in November 2019 with symptoms similar to COVID but before the first cases were reported.

Mukul Roy left the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday and rejoined the Trinamool Congress. Roy was re-inducted into the party he had once founded with Mamata Banerjee. Along with Mukul Roy, his son Subhranshu Roy also rejoined the ruling party in West Bengal.

Bharat Biotech’s US partner to seek emergency nod for Covaxin in Canada
Ocugen Inc, the US partner for India's Bharat Biotech Covid-19 vaccine Covaxin said that it will pursue emergency-use approval of the vaccine in Canada. Bharat Biotech on June 3 said it has agreed to expand the agreement with Ocugen Inc to commercialise the jab in Canada also. Just like the deal for the US market, apart from the upfront payment and milestone payment upon first commercial sale, Ocugen would be retaining 45% of the profits from Covaxin sales in Canada, while Bharat Biotech would get 55% share of the profits.
