Gautam Adani is no longer Asia’s second-richest person
Industrialist Gautam Adani has lost the title of the second richest person in Asia, only behind his Indian counterpart, Reliance Industries Limited’s chief, Mukesh Ambani. A sudden drop in the wealth of Adani came after the stock prices of many of his firms saw a plunge in the last few days. In the past 3 days, Adani’s net worth has dropped by $9 billion. Zhong Shanshan, the Chinese billionaire who made a fortune by selling bottled water, has now reclaimed the spot of the second-richest person in Asia.

How CBSE will calculate Class 12 result
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has finally come up with an assessment plan for marking class 12th students. The final marks will be based on a 30:30:40 formula: Past academic performances of Class 10th with 30% weightage, 11th with 30% weightage, and pre-boards with 40% weightage. The results will be announced by July 31.

Probe in how Sood, Siddiqui procured Covid related drugs
“These people (celebrities and politicians) project themselves as some kind of messiahs without verifying if the drugs were spurious or if the supply was illegal,” a division bench of Justice Sunil P Deshmukh and Justice Girish S Kulkarni said while hearing a clutch of PILs alleging improper Covid-19 management in Maharashtra. With regards to actor Sonu Sood, he said that the actor received the drugs from several pharmacies inside the private Lifeline Care Hospital in Goregaon. Pharma companies had supplied Remdesivir to these pharmacies and inquiry is still going on.

Rafael Nadal withdraws from Wimbledon and Tokyo Olympics
Rafael Nadal, the 20-time Grand Slam winner has decided not to participate in the upcoming Wimbledon Championships, starting on June 28, and the Tokyo Olympics, which is set to begin from July 23. Nadal said that the reduced break between the French Open and Wimbledon made it more difficult for his body to recover, especially considering the grueling campaign he endured in Paris, which culminated in a four-set semi-final loss to eventual winner Novak Djokovic.

China launches first crew to live on new space station
In China's longest crewed mission to date, the first astronauts for its new space station blasted off on June 17. Carrying three astronauts, the Long March-2F rocket lifted off at 9:22 am local time (0122 GMT) in a cloud of smoke from the Jiuquan launch centre in northwest China's Gobi desert.

No penalty For driving with expired licence, other documents until Sept 30
The validity of driving licenses, vehicle registration certificates, fitness certificates and all other permits have been extended to September 30. All those documents that have expired after February 2020 and could not be renewed due to the pandemic come under this. The Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry has instructed transport departments not to prosecute motorists who fall in this category.

OnePlus formally merges with Oppo
Global smartphone brand OnePlus announced that it has decided to further integrate with its sister smartphone brand Oppo and merge with it in a bid to create better products. In an official forum note, One Plus founder and CEO Pete Lau said that it will also allow them to be more efficient, for example, bringing faster and more stable software updates for OnePlus users.

Botswana says it has found the world's 'third largest' diamond
Botswanan diamond firm Debswana has unearthed a 1,098-carat stone and described it as the third-largest diamond in the world. The stone was unearthed on June 1 and shown to President Mokgweetsi Masisi two weeks later. It has already been put on display, but official confirmation of the stone being the third-largest in the world is still awaited.

Google announces Rs 113-cr grant for India
Google India announced that it will support procurement and installation of about 80 oxygen generation plants in high-need and rural locations of the country through additional grants worth $15 million, or Rs 109 crore, to two non-profit organisations.
The two organisations – GiveIndia and PATH – will oversee Google’s oxygen program and provide project management support, including procurement and installation of plants.
