Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global approval rating has fallen to 66%, down from a previous 75%, a survey suggested. However, it is still higher than world leaders from 13 countries, including Joe Biden of the United States, Vladimir Putin of Russia, Emmanuel Macron from France and Germany's Angela Merkel.

The 17 year old, top-ranked ICC T20I batter announced her arrival in Test cricket with a 96-run knock which was the highest score by an Indian woman cricketer in a test debut. The young cricketer broke the 26-year-old record to become the highest run-scorer Indian woman cricketer in a Test debut match and also became the first Indian woman cricketer to hit a six in a test debut.

UEFA asks teams to stop removing sponsors' bottles at Euro 2020
Reacting to a bottle-snatching trend at the European Championship started by Cristiano Ronaldo, players on the 24 teams have been asked to stop removing strategically placed sponsor drinks from the news conference platforms, UEFA said. Ronaldo, Paul Pogba and Manuel Locatelli, all removed sponsor bottles away from the view of cameras when taking their seats at official media sessions this week. Euro 2020 tournament director Martin Kallen said UEFA has “communicated with the teams regarding this matter.”

Ghaziabad police ask Twitter MD to appear within 7 days
The Ghaziabad Police has sent a notice to the Twitter India Managing Director Manish Maheshwari, asking him to appear at the Loni Border police station within 7 days to get his statement recorded for a case involving an assault on a Muslim man earlier this month.
The Ghaziabad Police, on Tuesday, booked Twitter, news website The Wire, journalists Mohammed Zubair and Rana Ayyub, Congress leaders Salman Nizami, Maskoor Usmani, Shama Mohamed and writer Saba Naqvi over the circulation of a video in which the elderly man says he was thrashed and asked to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' on June 5. The police claim that the video was shared to cause communal unrest.

Funds of Indians in Swiss banks highest in 13 years
Funds held by Indian individuals and firms in Swiss banks rose to INR 20,700 crore, the highest in 13 years, reversing a two-year declining trend. This includes funds through India-based branches and other financial institutions. Holdings via securities and similar instruments saw a sharp surge, but customer deposits fell, annual data from Switzerland’s central bank revealed on June 17.

Google Maps shows new ‘underwater’ structure in Arabian Sea near Kochi
A new bean-shaped ‘island’-like structure could be seen off the coast of Kerala’s Kochi in the Arabian Sea in satellite imagery from Google Maps. Officials from the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) are planning to investigate the matter after an organisation, Chellanam Karshika Tourism Development Society, wrote a letter to the authorities. KX Julappan, president of the organisation, highlighted that the structure is located 7 km west of the port gate and claimed that it could be about 8 km in length and 3.5 km in width, based on the image from Google Maps.

Naomi Osaka pulls out of Wimbledon
Naomi Osaka has decided to pull out of the Wimbledon 2021 but she will take part in this year's Olympic Games in Japan, the tennis player's agent confirmed. "She is taking some personal time with friends and family. She will be ready for the Olympics and is excited to play in front of her home fans,” the statement read. Osaka, 23, withdrew from the French Open before the second round in the wake of the controversy caused by her decision to skip mandatory post-match news conferences at the tournament.

A high-level meeting convened by Union Home minister Amit Shah to discuss the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir was held today. Besides Shah, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Intelligence Bureau Director Arvind Kumar, Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) chief Samant Kumar Goel, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General Kuldiep Singh and J&K DGP Dilbagh Singh attended the meeting.
