China inaugurates 1st fully electrified bullet train to run in Tibet
China on Friday unveiled its first fully electrified bullet train in the remote Himalayan region of Tibet. The bullet train connects the provincial capital Lhasa and Nyingchi, which is a strategically located Tibetan border town close to Arunachal Pradesh. This is the first electrified railway to be made operational in the Tibet Autonomous Region

Children aged 12-14 carried out attack that killed over 130 in Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso's government and the UN have said that the attack in which more than 130 people were killed this month was carried out mostly by children aged 12 to 14. Armed attackers raided the village of Solhan on June 4, opened fire on residents and burned homes. Jihadists have been using child soldiers to carry out attacks in Burkina Faso.

UP top performer under Smart Cities mission, followed by MP and Tamil Nadu
The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has ranked Uttar Pradesh as the top performer under the Smart Cities mission’s India Smart Cities Awards Contest (ISAC) 2020 followed by Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Among cities, Indore and Surat were adjudged joint winners. Among Union Territories, Chandigarh was ranked first.

T20 World Cup 2021 likely to be played from October 17
The T20 World Cup 2021 is expected to begin on October 17 in the UAE and the final of the tournament will take place on November 14. The 16-team event will start days after the IPL final, which is likely to be held on October 15. India was supposed to host the 2021 T20 World Cup, but the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in them losing the venue rights, though they might still be involved as hosts of the tournament.
