‘Seems like a manual for rape victims’: Bombay HC on Tarun Tejpal case verdict
The Bombay High court on Monday reacted to the acquitted Tarun Tejpal’s judgement of rape and sexual assault charges, saying that “It seems like a manual for rape victims” as it goes into how a victim should respond in such cases.
In an appeal to the High Court, the Goa government cited the trial court's lack of understanding of a victim's post-trauma behavior and censuring of her character while it "considered the evidence given by defense witnesses as the gospel truth but at the same time, discredited without any findings the evidence given by the victim and the prosecution witnesses". It also questioned the woman's conduct and not the actual crime that was committed.

Extra-marital affair no ground to deny child custody to mother: High Court
The Punjab and Haryana High Court ruled that a woman's extra-marital affair does in no way signify her worth as a mother and is not a valid reason to deny her child’s custody in a matrimonial dispute.
Adding more to it, the court also mentioned that in a patriarchal society, it is fairly common to pass judgements on a woman’s character that too without any basis whatsoever. The petition was filed by a woman from Punjab who was seeking custody of her four and half year old daughter from her estranged husband who is an Australian citizen.
