PM Modi to release financial benefit under PM-KISAN
PM Modi plans to release the 8th installment of the program Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) today. This will aid 9.5 crores beneficiary farmer families with a total sanction of ₹19,000 crores.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, a financial benefit of ₹ 6000/- per year is provided to the eligible beneficiary farmer families, payable in three equal 4-monthly installments of Rs.2000/- each.

The first shot of the Sputnik V vaccine administered by Dr. Reddy's in Hyderabad
The imported vaccination, Sputnik V, is priced at Rs 995 (Rs 948 with 5% GST) per dose. However, this price might lower down once the vaccine starts a local supply and manufacture chain. Sourced from Russia, the efficiency of this vaccine is said to be 91.6% and it is to be delivered in two doses.

‘High intensity’ cyclone to reach Gujarat coast
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) notified of a high-intensity cyclone originating in the Arabian Sea, which is heading towards south Gujarat and Pakistan and is expected to reach by May 18. This will be 2021’s first cyclone, forming over the North Indian Ocean region, and if realized, will be named Tauktae (as coined by Myanmar).

Australia to resume repatriation flights from India from tomorrow
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has resumed commercial flights from India to Australia. This is planned to commence from midnight May 14, with a strict pre-flight testing regime. The travel ban which came into effect on May 3, was put in place due to a record rise in COVID-19 cases in India.

GoAir files preliminary papers for ₹3,600-crore IPO
Low-cost airline GoAir, which rebranded itself as Go First, has filed preliminary papers for an initial share sale worth ₹3,600 crores. The proceeds from the IPO will predominantly be used to endow debt repayments, as stated in its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP).

216 crore vaccine doses to be available in 5 months between August-December: Centre
As the shortage of vaccines became a prevalent problem in various states, the center informed the availability of ready doses of 2 billion vaccines in 5 months between August and December, stating that this will be adequate to vaccinate the entire population.
