Microsoft is retiring Internet Explorer in 2022
Microsoft has announced that the Internet Explorer web browser will be officially retired on June 15, 2022, and will be replaced with Microsoft Edge.
Internet Explorer was first launched in August 1995, making it more than 25 years old. Earlier Microsoft had announced that its 365 online will no longer support Internet Explorer.
The Redmond, Washington-based technology giant says that Microsoft Edge will be compatible with older legacy websites and applications.

Mylab says its '2-minute' covid self-testing kit will be available in 7 lakh pharmacies next week
On Thursday, Pune’s Mylab Discovery solutions launched India’s first-ever self-testing kit for COVID-19, after receiving approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Director of Mylab Discovery Solutions said that "This test is for self-use. If you test positive via this there's no need for the RT-PCR test as per ICMR. Any adult can use this kit by reading our manual."
He also informed that "It takes 2 minutes to conduct the test and 15 minutes to get the result. It will be available by the end of next week in more than 7 lakh pharmacies and our online pharmacy partners across India. Our target is to reach 90% pin codes in India,"

Centre to set up ‘BBC-like’ channel to push India’s viewpoint on current affairs
The Centre is aiming at a new channel with worldwide reach named DD International. Setting up a new global outlook, this channel will be on the lines of BBC World and likewise for a global audience.
The objective of the channel, according to the draft Expression of Interest (EoI), is primarily to provide India’s point of view globally on contemporary issues of both global and domestic significance and telling the India story to a global audience.

ITR filing deadline for FY21 extended to Sept 30 due to Covid
To provide relief to taxpayers, the government has extended the due date of filing income tax returns (ITR) for the financial year 2020-21 by two months till September 30, amid the severity of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
The Finance Ministry also extended the timelines for various tax compliances under the Income-Tax Act,1961, to address difficulties faced by taxpayers during the pandemic.

Indian Navy's first destroyer INS Rajput to be decommissioned after 41 years of service
The Indian Navy is going to decommission its first destroyer INS Rajput on May 21, which was in service for 41 years.
The erstwhile Russian-built ship was commissioned on May 4, 1980. The ship has participated in several key operations such as Operation Aman, off Sri Lanka to assist the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF), Operation Pawan for patrolling duties off the coast of Sri Lanka as part of the IPKF mission against LTTE between 1987 and 1990.

Rahul Dravid likely to coach India on Sri Lanka tour
Rahul Dravid is likely to tour Sri Lanka in July as the head coach of India's limited-overs squads, ESPNcricinfo has learned. The BCCI is yet to make the formal announcement but Dravid is expected to tour Sri Lanka in the absence of head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and batting coach Vikram Rathour, who will all be with the Test squad in the UK from early June to late September for the WTC final and the five Tests against England.

Bombay HC says will permit BMC to conduct door-to-door vaccination, no need for Centre's nod
The Bombay High Court has asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) if it was possible to introduce a door-to-door COVID-19 vaccination programme for senior citizens and disabled persons who are unable to visit inoculation centres. The court said it will give permission to the civic body for door-to-door vaccination even if the Centre does not.
