Post-poll violence: SC issues notice to Bengal government
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court issued notice to the West Bengal government on a plea seeking an investigation into post-poll violence and seeking rehabilitation of victims of the violence that broke out after the declaration of Assembly poll results on 2 May.
A bunch of committees such as the National Human Rights Commission, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and the National Commission for Protection of Women and Child Rights were added as participants in the case. The court added them on request of the petitioner’s lawyer.
The apex court directed the state government to file a reply by June 7 and set the next hearing in the second week of June.

WhatsApp says it will wait for the Indian government to pass the Personal Data Protection law before limiting features.
Days after the government directed the messaging platform to withdraw its new privacy policy, Whatsapp on Monday said that it would not limit the functionality for users not agreeing to its new privacy policy. However, it will continue to remind users about the update and maintain this approach till the forthcoming data protection law comes into effect.
In response to the government's letter, Whatsapp has said that users’ privacy remains the company’s highest priority.

Will ensure Hamas does not benefit from Gaza reconstruction: Blinken
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has said that a lot of "hard work" was required to restore "hope, respect and some trust" after the clash in Gaza. He is on a trip to the Middle East to ensure peace after the Israeli-Hamas conflict.
He asserted that the US will ensure international aid towards rebuilding Gaza and that Hamas should not benefit from the reconstruction assistance.
Israel's defense ministry had said earlier that aid meant for Gaza would bypass Hamas and decisive steps will be taken to ensure that it reaches the people of Gaza directly.

Aim to comply with IT rules, says Facebook as deadline ends today
One of Big Tech’s most prominent representatives, Facebook, said on Tuesday that it plans to abide by the operational processes and provisions of the IT rules announced in February, with some minor discussions still pending with the government.
The latest guidelines require social media giants like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp to follow additional due diligence, including the appointment of a chief compliance officer, nodal contact person and resident grievance officer.

PharmEasy buys Medlife, becomes largest e-pharma firm
Unicorn PharmEasy has acquired Medlife for an undisclosed amount, making it the largest e-pharma company in the country.
According to the deal, Medlife users will become Pharmeasy customers with Medlife discontinuing operations. Users can log in to the PharmEasy app to start using their Medlife account via the same mobile number. The consolidated entity will be serving around 2 million customers every month, said the company.
The Indian e-health sector, which is expected to become a $16 billion opportunity by FY25, has seen a lot of action lately with bigwigs such as Tatas, Amazon and Reliance.

Nasa joins hands with Isro to develop Earth Observatory to mitigate climate change, better disaster management
NASA will design a new set of Earth-focused missions to guide efforts related to climate change, disaster mitigation, fighting forest fires and improving real-time agricultural processes. Meanwhile, India is preparing to tackle the upcoming cyclone Yaas on its eastern coast.
With the Earth System Observatory, each satellite will be uniquely designed to complement the others, working in tandem to create a 3D, holistic view of Earth, from bedrock to the atmosphere, according to a press release published by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
