"Give us gift of forgiveness": Macron apologises for Rwandan genocide
French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday expressed regret on France’s role in the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. He also recognised France’s disregard towards the imminent massacres in the African Nation. He is the first French leader to visit Rwanda since 2010. Macaron conveyed his grief while visiting the Gisozi genocide memorial, where more than 250,000 victims are buried.
Rwandan President Paul Kagame welcomed Macron's speech, saying at a joint press conference later that "his words were more powerful than an apology".
