India is now the world's second-largest mobile phone producer: ICA
As per information shared by Indian Cellular Association, India is now the second-largest mobile phone producer after China. ICA referred to data available from market research firm IHS, China's National Bureau of Statistics and Vietnam General Statistics Office. The data suggests that the yearly production of mobile phones in India increased from 3 million units in 2014 to 11 million units in 2017.

S.C. allows Bihar to continue mining activities
On November 10, the Supreme Court allowed Bihar to carry on mining activities through the Bihar State Mining Corporation. It was observed that an earlier total ban on legal sand mining caused a massive loss to the public exchequer. However, the court iterated that a balanced approach of sustainable development and ensuring environmental safeguards should be kept in mind while mining.

Central trade unions to hold protests
Ten central trade unions, including the Indian National Trade Union Congress and the Hind Mazdoor Sabha, will conduct protests starting Thursday, ahead of the two-day nationwide strike during the Budget session of Parliament. The demonstrations will be aimed at the centre's decisions to fully or partially privatize the public sector units (PSUs), and the effect on the working class in the country.

NASA, SpaceX launch ''Crew 3'' astronauts on the flight to International Space Station
NASA and Elon Musk's SpaceX launched four more astronauts on a flight to the International Space Station on Wednesday from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The Crew includes veteran spacewalker Tom Marshburn, European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Matthias Maurer, and two of NASA's latest graduating class of astronauts - Raja Chari and Kayla Barron.

Elon Musk sells USD 1.1 billion of Tesla stock
On Saturday, the world's richest man, Elon Musk, ran a poll on Twitter asking people if he should sell some of his Tesla shares. Of the 3,519,252 users who voted, 57.9% said "YES" to the proposal. In response, Musk's trust sold almost 3.6 million shares in Tesla, worth around USD 4 billion. He also sold another 934,000 shares for about USD 1.1 billion, according to a filing released on Wednesday by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Google loses appeal of USD 2.8 billion fine in E.U. antitrust case
On Wednesday, Alphabet Inc's Google lost an appeal to revoke a landmark antitrust ruling from 2017, made by the European Commission, which fined the tech giant EUR 2.4 billion for giving preference to its shopping service. It was the first out of three issued by the commission, for which Google has to pay a total of EUR 8.25 billion in E.U. antitrust fines over the last decade.

IIM-A to launch a course on Bhagwad Gita
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad has announced launching a course on Bhagwad Gita for corporate professionals, to teach management lessons from December 13. The program will consist of readings and chapters from Gita "to explore contemporary management concepts, conflicts, dilemmas, and trade-offs in business."
