Meesho aiming to reach 100 million users by the end of 2022
Social commerce platform Meesho, founded by Vidit Aatrey and Sanjeev Barnwal, has logged 17.8 million users and 51 million orders per month in September 2021. The app tweeted that it aims to reach 100 million users by December 2022. The platform has also beaten social media giant Facebook to become the most downloaded Indian app, with 25 million downloads in October.

Samajwadi Party holds rally on Purvanchal Expressway a day after its inauguration
A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Purvanchal Expressway, Akhilesh Yadav, chief of the Samajwadi Party (SP), held a 'Vijay Rath Yatra' on the Purvanchal Expressway. Yadav had claimed that the 341 km long expressway was initiated by the SP when it was in power in the state and vowed to "wipe out the BJP" in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh elections.

Delhi spells out 10 point decision list to combat air pollution
Delhi environmental minister Gopal Rai said it had prepared a 10 point decision list in response to the Supreme Court's 24-hour deadline to prepare a list of urgent steps to control rising air pollution levels in the capital. The list includes the measures suggested by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), and those enforced by the state government, along with other measures.

Centre constitutes committee to work on promoting Indian languages
The Centre has established a 'high-powered' committee to research and recommend channels to promote and grow Indian languages as envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The committee will also suggest ways to improve studies of Indigenous languages at various educational levels. An educationist, Chamu Krishna Shastry, will chair the committee.

Vir Das causes a stir with 'Two Indias' monologue
Vir Das delivered the 'I come from Two Indias' monologue at the United States' Kennedy Centre, which led to a huge uproar. Police complaints were filed, and criticisms flew, with comments that he was "belittling the country on foreign soil" and "vilifying the nation". Almost 300 people test COVID-19 positive after COP26
291 people linked to the United Nations Climate Summit, COP26 held in Glasgow this month, tested positive for COVID-19. Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister of Scotland, said that no substantial rise in cases has been seen since. According to the Public Health Scotland (PHS), about four in every 1000 members at the event tested positive for the virus through regular lateral flow testing.

Apple to enable users to repair their own devices
Apple announced its 'Self Service Repair Programme', enabling users to buy spare parts and perform repairs on selected iPhones and Macs. Apple said the online store will begin in the United States in early 2022, with about 200 parts, manuals, and tools to fix common issues on the iPhone 12 and 13 models, and Mac M1 chips. The programme will expand to more countries later in 2022.

Doordarshan documentary wins accolades
Doordarshan has won a UNESCO award at a function held online in Kuala Lumpur for its documentary on sign language. 'DEAFinitely Leading The Way', produced by Doordarshan, won the prize under UNESCO's 'Together For Peace' initiative. Pradeep Agnihotri, who directed the documentary, said, "Sign language should be made a part of the educational curriculum like other languages".
