PM Modi on Friday launched the Swachh Bharat Mission - Urban (SBM-U) 2.0, and the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0 mission; two schemes aimed towards making the urban cities 'garbage-free and 'water-secure. He also said that the Centre is also focused on sewage management and ensuring that dirty drainage doesn't merge into rivers with the second phase.

Cyclone Shaheen to form in next 24 hours
After cyclone Gulab, another storm is brewing in the North Arabian sea, which once formed, will be named cyclone Shaheen as suggested by Qatar. The storm will move away from the Indian coast towards the west-north westwards in Pakistan, which keeps India clear of any direct threat. As a result, heavy rainfall is predicted in Gujarat, Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim till October 3.

Zydus Cadila's vaccine for kids is soon to be included in India's vaccination programme
On Thursday, health secretary Rajesh Bhushan said, "Zydus vaccine will be introduced very soon. No date has been decided as yet. The pricing will be different from other jabs as it's a three-dose vaccine." NITI Aayog Member, Dr VK Paul, had also said that constant efforts are being taken to bring the vaccination plan in practical shape and implementation. The three-dose vaccine has to be administered in a gap of 28 days.

CSK become the first team to qualify for the playoff

New RBI norms, recurring payments affected
Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) new norm on auto-debit transactions kicks in today, under which all banks need to notify or take confirmation from customers for any recurring transactions. All the payments (e.g. OTT subscription, recharge, utility bills) that have been mandated through net banking will remain the same.

SC hits out at protesting farmers
SC on Friday expressed its dissent towards protesting farmers against the Centre's three agricultural laws at various Delhi border points. SC said that the farmers have 'strangulated the city and blocked the highways'. A bench of justices AM Khanwilkar and CT Ravikumar told the counsel appearing for petitioners that they should trust the judicial system once they have approached the court.
