ISKON to take actions against temple attacks
The attacks on the ISKON temple in Bangladesh on Friday has been condemned by the Vice-President of ISKON, Kolkata, Radharaman Das. He has written an appeal to the United Nations to condemn this action and send a delegation to Bangladesh. The body also plans to protest in 150 countries on October 23.

Djokovic refuses to get vaccinated, could miss Australian Open
Novak Djokovic might not defend his Australian Open title defence after a government official stated that it is doubtful that unvaccinated players will get visas to enter the country. Djokovic refused to reveal his vaccination status and was unsure if he would compete in January due to the Covid-19 related restrictions. “Things being as they are, I still don't know if I will go to Melbourne.”

Facebook plans name change
Facebook Inc plans to rebrand itself with a new name next week. Zuckerberg plans to talk about the name change at its annual conference on October 28, but it could be unveiled sooner, the Verge reported. It will reflect Facebook's focus on building the metaverse, an online world where people move and communicate in a virtual environment. In response, Facebook said it does not comment on “rumour or speculation.”

Policybazaar IPO gets SEBI approval
Policybazaar has received SEBI's approval to raise INR 6,017.50 crore through an initial public offer (IPO). The IPO comprises a fresh issue of INR 3,750 crore worth of equity shares and an offer for sale of INR 2,267.50 crores by existing shareholders. The proceeds from the IPO will be used for funding investments and acquisitions, increasing the consumer base, expanding presence outside India etc.

These states and UTs may see heavy rain in the next few days
After Uttarakhand and Kerala received unprecedented & heavy rainfall, IMD has now issued warnings for other states. The IMD informed that heavy rain was also very likely over West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, and Meghalaya. It is also predicted - scattered to fairly widespread rain/snow over J&K, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on October 22.

International passengers visiting India need negative Covid test
From October 25, fully vaccinated travellers from countries with reciprocal arrangements with India for mutual acceptance of WHO approved COVID-19 vaccines will not have to undergo home quarantine and testing from October 25, according to the revised guidelines for international arrivals released today. However, they will have to provide a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR report.

Africa in danger of losing its last ice glaciers
Ahead of the UN climate conference in Scotland scheduled on October 31, the World Meteorological Organization and other agencies have reported that the three last mountain glaciers in the African continent (Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya and the Rwenzori Mountains) will cease to exist by the 2040s if measures are not taken to mitigate climate change. It leaves Africa's 54 countries with a population of 1.3 billion people, who contribute to less than 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions “extremely vulnerable” to natural disasters.
