136 nations, including India, agree on the Global Corporate Tax deal
To make it difficult for big companies to avoid taxation, a group of 136 countries, including India, have agreed on a deal to set a minimum global tax rate of 15%, on Friday. The deal aims to end a "race to the bottom", by fixing a minimum tax rate for countries wanting to attract investment and jobs and thus, taxing multinational companies lightly.

SpaceX is now the world's second most valued private company
The valuation of Elon Musk's space exploration company, SpaceX, has reportedly skyrocketed to over USD 100 billion following the secondary sale of its shares last week. Investors sold up to USD 755 million of privately held stock at the price of USD 560 per share. With this, SpaceX is now considered to be the world's second most valuable private company, after TikTok parent Bytedance, which is worth USD 140 billion.

Centre ready for hard dibs against targeted minority killings in J&K

Panic-stricken pandits go on leave in Kashmir valley
In an incident of targeted killing of 2 Pandits among 7 other civilians in the past week, many Kashmiri Pandits have started refraining from attending offices. A lot of them went on a 10-day leave in the Valley on Friday. Widespread protests have taken place in Jammu and Kashmir against these killings.

Google to restrict ads on content denying climate change
Alphabet Inc.’s Google, in its updated ads and monetization policy, has announced that they will prohibit ads on content that contradicts well-established scientific consensus around the existence and causes of climate change. The ban will also apply to YouTube. Google announced that this new policy is in line with its goals to promote sustainability and confront climate change head-on.

Centre restricts the export of syringes
The central government has imposed a quantitative restriction on the export of syringes to boost domestic production and supply, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). It stated that needles are vital to sustaining the program's momentum to vaccinate all eligible citizens in the shortest time. The restriction currently applies to 3 categories of syringes for 3 months.

B'desh confirms deal with the UN to move 81000 Rohingyas to Island
Bangladesh plans to move close to 81,000 Rohingya refugees to a remote island in the Bay of Bengal after confirming a deal with the UN. The government has invested about USD 350 million to build shelters on the 53 square kilometre island, which was formed 20 years ago by tidal silt deposits. Post the Myanmar military clampdown in 2017, Bangladesh has been acknowledged for its efforts in taking in the refugees but has been finding it difficult to find them permanent homes.

Reaction to action: Killing of 2 BJP workers in Lakhimpur not murder
Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader, Rakesh Tikait sparked controversy today by stating that the lynching of the BJP workers in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri was only a “reaction to the action". A local reporter and a driver in the employ of Union minister, Ajay Misra were the victims who were killed along with 4 farmers in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence which took place last week.

Australia wins second T20I, seals multi-format series
Australia clinched the women's multi-format series 9-5 after denying India a win in the 2nd T20I at Queensland. India set a target of 119 in the first innings after a 37-runs (26-balls) cameo by Pooja Vastrakar. The Indian bowling offered a great fight but Tahlia McGrath's (MOM) unbeaten 42 off 33 balls ensured a win to Australia. The 3rd T20I is scheduled for Sunday, 10 October 2021.
