Lashkar-e-Taiba affiliated terrorist group, United Liberation Front (ULF), has claimed responsibility for killing 2 non-local workers and injuring another in Kulgam on Sunday, October 17, 2021. Furthermore, the terrorist group has warned migrant workers to decamp the Kashmir Valley.

Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan, launched Chingari's '$GARI' - India's first social cryptocurrency, in a tweet on October 16, 2021. The short video app developed in India with around 50 million active monthly users also launched their NFT marketplace, for which Salman Khan is the brand ambassador. General Colin L. Powell, former US Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, died at the age of 84 on October 18, 2021. Despite being fully vaccinated, he succumbed to complications from COVID-19, as per reports given by the Powell family on Facebook.

India ramps up drone surveillance at China border
India has scaled up its 24/7 surveillance at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Arunachal Pradesh area using drones and other assets. Israeli-made, medium-altitude, long-endurance Heron drones are being used in the mountainous terrain; to send crucial data and images. Along with the drones, a weaponized version of the Advanced Light Helicopter Rudra is also being used.

Uttarakhand's entire eligible population vaccinated
Uttarakhand's CM, Pushkar Singh Dhami, has announced that a total of 74 lakh people (i.e. total eligible population) across the state have received at least one dose of the anti-COVID jab. The state has achieved this feat 3-months ahead of its target. The CM thanked all government, private & voluntary agencies involved in the exercise for raising the supply of vaccines from August 2021 onwards who in turn lauded the state for the achievement.

Bangladeshi mob torches over 60 hindu houses over FB post
Violence in Bangladesh against the country's hindu minority, which began last week over alleged irreverence of the Quran during Durga Puja celebrations in Cumilla, continues unabated as a mob attacked houses belonging to Hindus in a village in Rangpur's Pirganj Upazila. Allegedly, the attackers were from the local units of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI) and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir.

Water levels rising, Kerala govt issues alert for dams
As heavy rains and rising water levels continue to batter Kerala, the state government has issued an alert that there might be a further increase in water levels of rivers as damns are opened. Meanwhile, the death toll due to heavy rains and landslides has climbed to 26, and the state government has called a meeting to be chaired by the CM in order to take stock of the situation.

Government paying INR 20 Cr a day to keep Air India flying
Secretary of DIPAM, Tuhin Kanta Pandey, heaved a sigh of relief when the privatization of Air India was completed. He said the cost of supporting Air India, which was a minimum of INR 20 Cr. a day, was being paid by the government. The government accepted Tata group's offer to pay INR 2,700 Cr cash and takeover INR 15,300 Cr of the airline's debt.
