South Asian Cross Championships to be held in Nagaland
The Athletes Federation of India (AIF) has announced that Nagaland will be hosting the South Asian Cross Country Championship in January 2022. Top athletes from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Afghanistan will participate in the event to be held at Kohima, Nagaland.

Delhi initiates anti-pollution campaign
The Delhi government had introduced the 'Red Light On, Gaadi Off' campaign last year to curb pollution in the country's capital. As the name suggests, it urges commuters to switch off their vehicles' engines as soon as they stop at a red light. This year, the campaign's first stage began on Monday and is expected to run for a month till November 18, 2021.

RBI imposes INR 1 Crore penalty on SBI
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed a fine of INR 1 Crore on the State Bank of India (SBI) after penalizing it for not complying with its specific directions. The SBI was punished for violating rules related to frauds classification and reporting by commercial banks and select financial institutions, the RBI said in a statement.

Dubai signs deal to build infrastructure in J&K
Dubai has signed an agreement with India to build and develop infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir. It is the first investment agreement by a foreign government in J&K since the withdrawal of Article 370. As part of the project, they will develop industrial parks, logistics centres, a medical college, and a speciality hospital, to name a few.

Union minister for civil aviation, Jyotiraditya M Scindia; MoS, civil aviation, General VK Singh (Retd); Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Rajeev Bansal, virtually flagged off 6 routes in the Northeast which will connect Kolkata – Guwahati, Guwahati – Aizawl, Aizawl – Shillong, Shillong – Aizawl, Aizawl – Guwahati and Guwahati – Kolkata, giving passengers a progression to connect with the whole country.

Uttarakhand landslides kill 6, cuts off Nainital
Heavy rainfall over the last 24 hours has left 6 people dead in separate landslide incidents in Uttarakhand. Many tourists were left stranded in Nainital as it was cut off from the rest of the state on Monday after landslides blocked all 3 highways to the hill town. All trekking activities and the Char Dham yatra remained suspended.

Metro card now at the tap of a finger
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) plans to install an upgraded contactless ticketing system at 44 metro stations, that use near-field communication technology, to allow smartphones to act as metro cards. The existing smart cards will enable users to pay using their debit or credit cards, the NFC system, and QR code-based paper tickets.

India nears its vaccination target
With a population of about 130 Crores, India has completed more than 99 Crores of COVID-19 vaccination doses. In a few days from today, India will achieve its 100 crore target milestone. It will mean that only about 20% of India's eligible population will have been double vaccinated. However, this comes with the fact that there is no suitable vaccine yet for 40% under 18.

NIA to probe J&K civilian killings
The National Investigation Agency will take over the probe into the targeted killing of 11 civilians in J&K. The Home Ministry has mandated the NIA to investigate the larger conspiracy behind the killings. The NIA is expected to take over 4 cases from J&K Police initially.
