New study claims air pollution to reduce life expectancy of Indians
Nearly 40% of India's population is exposed to pollution levels unseen in any other country. As per a study done by the Energy Policy Institute of University of Chicago, it is forecast that if the current levels of pollution are to persist, almost 510 million North Indians will lose an average of 8.5 years of life expectancy.

Telangana schools and colleges reopen with COVID-19 norms
The resumption of offline classes for 1st to 12th standard followed a High Court order on Tuesday. The schools and colleges were granted this permission, whereas government residential schools were stayed from holding offline classes for four weeks. The Court also directed that no children, in any class, be compelled by school managements to physically attend offline classes if parents are not inclined to send them.

Goa becomes first state in the country to give free water to its citizens
Goa Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, launched the 'Save Water to Get Free Water' scheme on Tuesday, under which households in the state will not be charged for consumption up to 16,000 litres. From September 1, 60% of the households will get zero bills. Those living in flats or complexes will be able to utilise the scheme.

Karnataka district stops pension to unvaccinated
MR Ravi, Deputy Commissioner of Chamarajanagar district along with his administration has launched a drive with the slogan 'no vaccination, no ration'. In a bid to vaccinate everyone, they have directed banks to release pensions to only vaccinated people. It has also made vaccination compulsory for availing rations from government-run outlets.

New PF rule from today
The Provident Fund (PF) rule is going to change from September 1, 2021. According to the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), it is mandatory for Employees Provident Fund (EPF) account holders to link their Aadhaar number and PF account by August 31, 2021.
