Virat Kohli to step down as RCB Captain
Virat Kohli in an official statement revealed that he will be stepping down as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain after the completion of the second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season. The announcement comes just days after he issued a statement to inform that he will step down as Team India's T20I captain at the end of the ICC T20 World Cup. Virat assured his fans that he will continue to play for RCB till his last IPL game.

Punjab and Haryana HC rule child marriage valid
Relying on a 2012-judgment of the Delhi High Court, the court bench of Justices Ritu Bahri and Arun Monga of Punjab and Haryana High court ruled the decision in favour of a couple asking for divorce by mutual consent. The case involved a marriage contracted with a minor girl in 2009. Child Marriage would become valid if no steps are taken by the ‘child’ to declare the marriage void on turning 18, the high court ruled.

8.6 % average increment for India Inc in 2022: Deloitte Survey
The second phase of Deloitte's Workforce and Increment Trends survey reveal the average increment for 2022 to increase to 8.6% in line with a healing economy and improving confidence, on the back of an 8% increase in 2021. The survey spanned 450 organizations, across seven sectors and 24 sub-sectors. It also indicates the IT sector to benefit the most in 2022, followed by the Life Sciences sector.

Charanjit Singh Channi takes oath as Punjab Chief Minister
Congress leader and MLA Charanjit Singh Channi today took the oath and became the first Dalit to head the Punjab state government; after a recent chain of events involving the former chief minister Amarinder Singh's forced resignation by the Congress high command. Two Deputy Chief Ministers — O.P. Soni and Sukhjinder Randhawa — also took oath along with the Chief Minister. Party president Rahul Gandhi, State unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu and others were present on the occasion.

Nagaland becomes Opposition 'Mukt'
Under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the Nagaland government has announced a new formation called the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), in a quest for political stability in the region. Tharoor, Ramesh take jab at the UK's new covid travel policy
Senior Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor and Jairam Ramesh on Monday took to Twitter to criticise the UK government's new covid travel policy, laid out for citizens of countries like India, Africa, South America and several other countries, to be considered as unvaccinated, even after getting vaccinated in their home country and to strictly follow a 10-day quarantine on reaching the UK. They termed the policy to be offensive and having smacks of racism.

Compensation for domestic players hit by COVID-19: BCCI
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced compensation for the domestic players affected by Covid-19. "Cricketers who participated in 2019-20 Domestic Season will get 50 percent additional match fee as compensation for season 2020-21 lost due to COVID-19 situation," BCCI general secretary Jay Shah said in a tweet.
