Cabinet allows 100% FDI in telecom sector
The Union Cabinet allowed 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country’s telecom sector via the automatic route, in which the foreign investors have to only notify the RBI after the investment is made. Till now, only 49% of FDI was allowed through the automatic route, and anything beyond this had to go through the government route, in which prior approval of the respective ministry or department was required.

Air India disinvestment: Tata Sons amongst multiple bidders
The disinvestment process for the government-owned airline moves to the concluding stage, after the transaction adviser received financial bids from several groups, including Tata Sons. The government has off late taken several steps to fast-track the much-delayed privatisation of the national carrier. Govt to simplify child adoption rules
The Ministry of Women and Child Development is framing model rules to make it easy for overseas citizens to adopt children from India. It is also putting in place stricter background checks for child welfare officials, and greater scrutiny of childcare institutions. Adoptive parents who wish to move to a foreign country along with their child within two years of adoption, will also be allowed to do so under the new rules.

Govt approves Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for auto and drone sectors
Incentives worth INR 26,058 cr will be offered under the PLI scheme for auto sector, auto components and drone sector. The PLI scheme is expected to bring in new investments worth more than INR 42,500 crore in five years, and incremental production of over INR 2.3 lakh crore. The focus of the auto sector PLI scheme is likely to promote manufacture of electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

IAF to hold air show over Dal Lake to inspire youth
The Indian Air Force will hold an air show over Dal lake in Srinagar on September 26, that will help motivate the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to join the IAF, according to officials. More than 3,000 schoolchildren and college students will attend the show, the officials said.
“The main aim of the air show is to motivate the youth of the Valley to join the Indian Air Force, and to promote tourism in the region,” Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole said.

Slaughter of nearly 1500 dolphins in Denmark sparks outrage
Almost 1,500 Atlantic white-sided dolphins were killed during the traditional hunt, known as Grindadráp, in the Faroe Islands. This has sparked outrage from animal rights campaigners. India “Highest in world” for people with at least 1 Covid vaccine dose: Health Ministry
The Health Ministry said that the number of people who have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine in India, and the number who have completed the vaccination schedule in the country, are the highest in the world. Presently, about 60.7 percent of the adult population in the country has received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. More than 751 million COVID-19 vaccination doses have been administered in India.

Infosys' deadline to fix I-T portal runs out today, users say glitches remain
The government's September 15 deadline for IT major Infosys to fix the income-tax (I-T) portal has run out, but the glitches are far from resolved, as mentioned by tax professionals and users. According to them, while some features have improved, there is still a long way to go before issues are resolved. The extension of the deadline to file returns by December 31st has provided some relief to the users.

Sansad TV is a merger of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha TV channels and will showcase the democratic ethos and the functioning of the democratic institutions of the country. It aims to target national and international audiences. The launch of Sansad TV coincides with the International Day of Democracy. The new channel will be available on OTT platforms, social media and have a separate mobile app as well.
