Sensex above 58000, RIL rallies
Sensex surged past 58000 mainly due to Reliance, with a NIFTY comfortable above the support level of 17300. RIL had an amazing rally of 4.2%, its highest in a long time. This transpired after its CEO Mukesh Ambani's conference around the new Jio phone and International Climate Conference focusing on the company's long term vision. With the market touching everyday ATH, this week saw a high increase in volume and market cap - bringing India's indexes to its best week in 2021.

Death toll due to dengue, viral fever climbs to 50 in Firozabad, UP
50 people succumbed to Dengue and Viral Fever rampant in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad - reported the Centre. Currently, there are 36 active camps in the district with 3,719 people, including patients undergoing treatment. With most death seen in children, due to the sudden collapse of platelets, the Centre has deployed a team of experts from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme.

HDFC Life to acquire Exide Life Insurance for INR 6,686 Cr
HDFC Life Insurance announced a 100% acquisition of Exide Life Insurance, & its subsequent merger. It announced the merger via issuance of 8,70,22,222 shares at an issue price of INR 685 per share, and a cash payout of INR 726 Crore, aggregating to INR 6,687 crore.

Ambani addresses International Climate Summit 2021
Mukesh Ambani, in his speech today, proclaimed that his Reliance Industries (RIL) would "establish and enable" at least 100 GW of solar energy by 2030. He also announced that Reliance will pursue the target of bringing down the cost of USD 2/ kg - aiming to bring it to USD 1/ kg in a decade.

SC stays offline exams for Class XI in Kerala amid spike in COVID cases
Amid the rising cases of COVID-19, the Supreme Court on Friday stayed the Kerala Government’s decision to conduct offline exams for Class XI commencing from September 6, calling the situation "alarming".
"As we couldn’t get a satisfactory response from counsel for the state in this regard, we grant interim relief staying the offline exam for till next date of hearing,”- Justices AM Khanwilkar, Hrishikesh Roy and C T Ravikumar.

Qatar - Taliban working towards re-opening Kabul airport
Qatar is working with the Taliban to reopen Kabul airport, its Foreign Minister declared on Thursday. The airport - the scene of a frenzied evacuation that ended with the U.S. troops' withdrawal - is currently out of operation.
“It’s very important... that the Taliban demonstrate their commitment to providing safe passage and freedom of movement for the people of Afghanistan,” Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed.
