NHRC notices to 4 govts, police chiefs over ‘adverse impact’ of farmers’ protests
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Centre and the state governments of Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh over the “adverse impact” of the ongoing farmers’ protests on industrial units and transportation. Transportation is adversely impacted, causing the commuters, patients, physically challenged people, and senior citizens to suffer due to the heavy congestion on roads.

'Shift protest out of Punjab': CM Amarinder Singh appeals to farmers
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh told farmers that their ongoing protests in Punjab are not in the state's interest. Singh appealed to the representatives of farmers' unions to not hold protests across the state against the three new farm laws as the state, and its people have already expressed solidarity with them on this issue.

WHO congratulates India for administering 10 crore COVID-19 vaccine jabs in just 13 days
Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh, Regional Director (South-East Asia), WHO, said: “WHO congratulated India for scaling up COVID-19 vaccination at an unprecedented pace. While it took 85 days to administer first 100 million doses, India reached 750 million doses from 650 million in just 13 days.”

India aims to launch FTA negotiations with UK by November 1
The decision was taken at a meeting between Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and his British counterpart Secretary of State for International Trade Elizabeth Truss. The two sides will look for an interim agreement as a priority, with a more comprehensive larger FTA later down the line. T-Series, Reliance Entertainment sign USD 135 mn deal for 10 films
The deal is one of the largest financing efforts in recent Indian film-making, but it comes at a time when most producers are abandoning theatres to release their films on over-the-top platforms such as Amazon and Netflix. Maharashtra EV policy 2021: State incentives on electric vehicles
Under the new policy, the government is offering substantial cost benefits and incentives on electric vehicles, in addition to what the central government offers under the FAME II scheme. In order to further encourage buyers to go for EVs over a vehicle with an Internal Combustion Engine, the state is also offering an early bird incentive until December 31, 2021, bringing the cost further down.

India, Singapore ink pact to align payments interface
The RBI, along with the Monetary Authority of Singapore, has agreed to link their fast payment system interface, which is UPI and PayNow. The move will allow their respective users to make fast and low-cost online transfers, without onboarding onto each other's payment system. According to a statement by the RBI, the combined payment platform will come into effect by July 2022.

Nifty 50 hits record high on auto, banking boost
The NSE Nifty 50 index was up 0.24% at 17,396 by 2:13 pm after touching a peak at 17,438.55. The S&P BSE Sensex gained 0.39% to 58,407.43. We will need to wear masks throughout next year: NITI Aayog
There is no wishing away masks even next year, as the battle against Covid will require a studied combination of vaccines, effective drugs, and disciplined social behaviour, according to Dr. VK Paul, a member of NITI Aayog. He also cautioned against the season of big festivals like Diwali and Dussehra that are coming in the next few months, which, if not managed well, could potentially lead to a massive spread of the illness.
