No more tarikh pe tarikh: SC on repeated adjournments
Years after the dialogue 'tarikh pe tarikh' summarised the view of common citizens around the process of case trial, Supreme Court on Thursday barred granting repeated adjournments and warned the trial court judges of becoming unpopular among advocates if they continue to do so. Justices M R Shah and A S Bopanna also stated that it is time to change adjournment culture, so litigants' confidence and trust in the justice delivery system remains intact.

Application open for women in NDA, Naval Academy exam, after SC order
Women can now apply for the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination in November 2021 between September 24 to October 8. On September 22, The Supreme Court rejected the government's plea to postpone the exam for women to the May 2022 session and directed that they shall be allowed to sit for the upcoming exam on November 14.

Govt. allows home vaccination for the disabled
On Thursday, the central government announced that those with restricted mobility, disability and special needs would be home vaccinated. The district-level immunisation officers will follow all the SoPs for home vaccination, including the critical aspect of monitoring adverse events following immunisation.

Govt. places order for 118 Arjun Mk-1A tanks
The new tanks, worth INR 7,523 crore, will be produced at the government’s heavy vehicle factory in Chennai and enveloped by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). They will have superior firepower, all-terrain mobility and multi-layered protection compared to older models. The order will provide manufacturing opportunities for over 200 Indian vendors and employ close to 8,000 people.

Heavy rain triggers landslides at various locations in Himachal Pradesh
On Thursday, a National Highway was blocked in Kinnaur district after a landslide, and Badrinath National Highway was blocked in Chamoli district on Friday morning. Over 10 people have died in the past 24 hours due to heavy rains & landslides, and almost 432 in the previous 130 days. A yellow alert has been issued in the state for the next 2 days.

56 military transport aircraft deal with Airbus, worth INR 20,000 crore
The Defence Ministry on Friday signed an INR 20,000 crore deal to procure 56 C-295 medium transport aircraft from Airbus. A consortium led by the Tata Group will manufacture 40 in India over 10 years. A lot of the components will be manufactured in India, which is expected to generate around 6600 employment opportunities.

Crypto crashes as China declares Crypto transactions illegal
On Friday, China’s central bank declared all cryptocurrency transactions as illegal, and banned foreign crypto exchanges from providing services to investors in the country. China has been cracking down on cryptocurrencies, and its moves to restrain trading and mining are adding to the volatility of bitcoin and other currencies. Bitcoin has fallen over 5% and Ethereum more than 7%.

Sensex tops 60,000 for the first time, Nifty above 17,900 lead by Infosys
Hitting an important milestone, Sensex breached the 60,000 mark for the first time ever on Friday as the stock market continued to rally ignoring some of the risks and uncertainty coming from the US and China. Nifty also inched closer to the 18,000 mark. In the 50-share pack Nifty, Infosys was the biggest gainer, up 2.38 percent. JSW Steel was the top loser in the pack, down 1.31 percent.
