India shines at World Archery Championship
India won eight gold, two silver, and five bronze medals at the World Archery Championship, a record-breaking spree. These medals were won overall in the recurve and compound sections, in India’s best-ever show in the tournament.
Centre imposes stricter ban on single-use plastics
The center has banned the manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale, and use of identified single-use plastic items including candy sticks, cups, cutlery, plastic flags, plastic wrappers, etc. These will be prohibited from July 1, 2022. The aim is to eliminate all single-use plastics in the country by 2022.
Solar lamps prepared by Jharkhand SHG women for sale
Ranchi ki Roshni -- the indigenous solar lamps assembled by the self-help group (SHGs) women in Ranchi are now available on Amazon for sale. All the profits earned from the sales will go to the 15 SHG women, currently engaged in the production of these portable solar lamps to solve the problem of uneven power cuts in rural Jharkhand.
Sainik Schools now open for girls too!
Sainik Schools, which traditionally admit only boys, will now be open for girls as well. With lakhs of requests received by girls across the country, the move to admit girl cadets at Sainik Schools all across India comes as part of the government’s push to increase the participation of women in the Indian armed forces.

2,000 milkmen come together to help fund-starved school in Assam
In a noble gesture, 2,000 milkmen from Assam's Sitajakhala Milk Cooperative Society came forward to donate a part of their income to help a school in the state's Morigaon district. They decided to donate 15 paise for every litre of milk sold to the higher secondary section of the school. The government has not provided any funding so far for this section of the school.
Hyderabad doctor pledges INR 350 crore, 70% of his wealth
Founder of Global Hospital Group Dr. Ravindranath Kancherla pledged to donate INR 350 crore (70% of his wealth) to build a world-class non-profitable medical education, research, and innovation university in Hyderabad. It would consist of a top medical university and hospital on a global scale with multi-disciplinary research and innovation focus.
