The ministry of youth affairs and sports awarded Khel Ratna to 12 sportspersons to recognise and appreciate their excellence in sports. The list includes Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, footballer Sunil Chhetri, Mithali Raj, and hockey veterans PR Sreejesh & Manpreet Singh. Paralympic medalists Pramod Bhagat, Sumit Antil, Manish Narwal, Avani Lekhara and Krishna Nagar. Olympic medalists Ravi Dahiya and Loveline Borgohain complete the entire list.

Belgium and France qualify for WC 2022 in Qatar
France and Belgium became the 2 latest nations that qualified for the FIFA 2022 WC in Qatar. France beat Kazakhstan 8-0, while Belgium advanced after beating Estonia 3-1. Meanwhile, Portugal was held to a goalless draw by the Republic of Ireland, and the Netherlands missed out on a win, drawing 2-2 with Montenegro.

Xavi returns to Barcelona as a coach
After a poor start to the season, FC Barcelona has recalled club legend, Xavi Hernandez, to manage the club. Xavi retired in 2019 from Barcelona. Since then, he managed Al-Sadd in Qatar and coached the team to 7 trophies. His first signing for FC Barcelona is another club legend, Dani Alves, who returns as a free agent from Brazil.

Valteri Bottas wins pole in Brazil Spriny
Valteri Bottas beat Max Verstappen to win the Sao Paulo sprint to take pole position for the race, with Verstappen coming in second and Carlos Sainz of Ferrari coming third. Lewis Hamilton recovered from a disqualification to gain 15 places to finish 5th after starting 24th on the grid. The sprint result extended Verstappen's slender lead over Hamilton in the F1 championship table to 19 points with three races to go.
